The "Local First" Philosophy
At SimpleTool, we believe that your data belongs to you. Unlike traditional online tools that require you to upload files to their servers, our platform utilizes Client-Side Processing.
Zero Uploads
Your Excel files, PDFs, and images never leave your computer. All processing happens locally in your browser's memory.
Zero Monitoring
Because we don't receive your files, we cannot see, store, or sell your sensitive information.
1. Data We Collect
SimpleTool collects minimal technical data to maintain operations:
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (with IP anonymization and ad-personalization disabled) to measure traffic patterns, feature usage, and where users get stuck in a tool's flow. We never see the content of the files you process.
- Feedback: If you voluntarily use our contact form, we collect your name and email address to respond to your inquiry.
- LocalStorage: Some tools may save your non-sensitive preferences (like light/dark mode) locally on your device for a consistent experience.
1a. What Our Analytics Actually Record
We believe you should know exactly what we measure, so here is the complete list:
We record
- Which tool you opened (e.g.
transcribe-audio) - Funnel steps: tool opened, file loaded, processing started, succeeded or failed, exported
- Bucketed file size (e.g.
1-10MB), never the exact size - Bucketed audio duration (e.g.
5-15min) only when a transcription fails, so we can fix length-related bugs — never on successful sessions - Export format chosen (
txt,srt,pdf, …) - Model tier for AI tools (e.g.
base,small) - Named error categories (e.g.
decode_failed) — never raw error messages
We never record
- File names, sheet names, or cell contents
- Transcript text or audio content
- Meeting titles, participant names, or emails
- Your IP address at full precision
- Anything you type into our tools
- Persistent cross-site tracking identifiers
Visitors from the EU, UK, and California see a consent banner and analytics stays off until you opt in. Everyone else can change their mind here at any time. Browsers that send a Global Privacy Control or Do-Not-Track signal are always opted out automatically.

2. Third Party Services
We integrate only the essential services required to keep SimpleTool running and free:
- Supabase: Used for storing feature requests and contact form submissions.
- Resend: Used to deliver email notifications regarding your inquiries.
- Google Ads: We may display minimal advertising to offset the costs of maintaining these free utilities.
3. Security
Because our tools run in your browser, they inherit the robust security sandboxing provided by modern browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Your data remains encrypted in transit (SSL) only when you are communicating with our API routes for feedback—never for your processed files.
