Do QR codes expire?

Static QR codes β€” the kind this tool generates β€” never expire. The data is encoded directly into the pattern of the code. Nothing is stored on a server, so there is nothing to expire or delete. Many commercial QR code services sell "dynamic" QR codes that redirect through their servers, then charge a subscription to keep those redirects alive. When you stop paying, your printed QR codes stop working. Static QR codes from this tool will scan correctly on any device, forever, with no ongoing cost.

When should I use a logo overlay?

Logo overlays work because QR codes include built-in error correction β€” a portion of the code can be obscured and still scan correctly. When a logo is present, this tool automatically uses high error correction (level H), which allows up to 30% of the code to be covered. Keep logos under 30% of the QR code area. SVG logos scale without pixelation and are ideal; PNG with a transparent background also works well. Avoid dark logos on dark QR codes β€” contrast is what makes scanning reliable.

SVG vs PNG β€” which should I download?

Download SVG for anything that will be printed β€” business cards, flyers, signage, packaging. SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without pixelation, so a QR code that looks sharp on a phone screen will look equally sharp at A0 poster size. Download PNG for digital use β€” websites, email signatures, presentations, social media. PNG is a standard raster format supported by every image viewer and platform.

How does the WiFi QR code work?

The WiFi tab generates a QR code following the WIFI: URI scheme (e.g. WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyNetwork;P:MyPass;;). Android 10+, iOS 11+, and most modern Android 5+ devices can scan this code with their camera app to join the network automatically β€” no app required. The WiFi password is encoded into the QR code itself and never sent to any server.

Are my inputs private?

Yes. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No text, URL, WiFi password, or logo is sent to a server at any point. This matters especially for WiFi QR codes (which contain your network password) and business vCards (which contain personal contact details).
