What is a PDF watermark?
A PDF watermark is a layer of text or image content (typically semi-transparent) added to one or every page of a PDF document. The two common purposes are status labelling — stamping CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, SAMPLE, or APPROVED on documents to signal their state — and provenance marking — placing a company logo, copyright notice, or author signature so the document's source is obvious wherever it travels.
